• the existence of abaissé in general, but in particular the thread “enjolras: top or bottom” that got locked by the mods after 5000 posts of heated argument
  
• the side of the fandom in like 2011-2012 that had an entire au where jehan could turn into a crow and another one where enjolras was a cat, but this was also the Super Serious historical side of the fandom
• when taylor swift was rumoured to be playing eponine in the movie
• the time before the movie when the fandom was like 10 people and basically the entire fandom got into a fight with tyler oakley
• zephy
• discourse over whether it was okay to make barricade day a thing even though it had already been a thing since like. the geocities era
• george blagden’s cover of “i will follow you into the dark”
• THE ENJONINE WAR AND ALL THAT FOLLOWED
• related: jehan/azelma, turnferre, TURNCHETTA
• when some of the movie cast were dicks on twitter and a solid proportion of the fandom, mostly the anti-enjonine bloggers, just fucking ate them alive
• people being creepy about jason forbach and joe spieldenner and calling them Real Life E/R
• fucking deaging fics espcially when they turned into e/r, which they invariably did
• the trend of turning incredibly specific real life events into fic + headcanon fodder usually with extremely #yikes results

• the fandom characterizing musichetta more than they did fantine
  
• Brick v Musical discourse (it was okay to ship musical enjolras/eponine but not brick enjolras/eponine)
• goddamn enjonine vs the Enjolras Was Gay discourse. 4,000 words of meta proving that enjolras was gay and enjonine was #problematic (i mean that’s probably true but still)
• characterization of eponine = winged eyeliner!!!!! kill all men!!!!!!!! let’s ignore the fact that she was an impoverished and abused child and make her the embodiment of weaponized femininity!!!!!!!!!!
